Five moments that mattered in 2024

Every day, the Colorectal Cancer Alliance inspires moments that matter — moments of hope, support, and progress — for patients, caregivers, survivors, and families. Through national efforts to advocate for prevention, magnify patient support, and accelerate research, the Alliance is transforming lives from coast to coast.
This year was the Alliance’s 25th year of impact, and we’re looking back on some of the milestones that made 2024 a year to remember.
Through Project Cure CRC, the Alliance awarded nearly $7 million to 19 research projects focused on topics like treatments for MSS disease and stopping tumor spread. Each project shares an urgency to advance life-saving science.
This year, the Alliance's patient and family navigation team is on track to help patients overcome nearly 45,000 barriers to better care. To enhance these efforts, we welcomed a clinical nurse navigator to guide patients through complex treatment decisions, including finding clinical trials — an overwhelming process that the Alliance helps simplify.
The wide range of colorectal cancer screening options, from colonoscopies to FIT kits, offers hope but also confusion. To address this, the Alliance convened top experts and influencers in Washington, DC, with the goal of developing tools and resources to help healthcare providers and patients navigate these life-saving options.
The Alliance’s web series, CRCtalks, amplifies critical conversations that happen between patients and healthcare professionals. This year, we tripled the viewing audience with intimate panels on nutrition, liver-directed therapies, biomarkers, and more — giving participants insight from leading experts.
Hispanic Americans are among the least likely to get screened for colorectal cancer. To address this disparity, the Alliance translated its colorectal cancer screening quiz into Spanish. We also added Spanish, Chinese, French, and Korean translation options to our new website, which was launched in January. These updates ensure more people have access to life-saving information and resources.
Bonus Moment! Tune in to FOX on January 1 for the re-airing of a two-hour special presentation of The Real Full Monty, in which celebrities “strip the stigma” associated with colorectal, prostate, and testicular cancer. James Van Der Beek will share his personal colorectal cancer story to build awareness and encourage screening. The program is also available on Hulu.
As we bring this incredible year to an end, we’re looking ahead to 2025 with ambitious goals and renewed determination. Be a part of the mission to end colorectal cancer by making a tax-deductible donation. Your support is greatly appreciated!

James was more than a beloved actor and cultural icon to millions who grew up watching him on screen — he was also a devoted husband, father, and advocate who faced his diagnosis with courage and openness.
