Inside Anne’s Closet Is Back With A Makeover
The Fashion Show and Luncheon Fundraiser, Which Has Raised More Than $1.2 Million, Transforms into an Golf Tournament and Wellness Event on June 21
The only fashion displayed at this year’s Inside Anne’s Closet fundraiser will be inside Stanford Golf Course’s pro shop. Organizers, including the national nonprofit Colorectal Cancer Alliance (Alliance), have planned a socially distanced golf tournament for June 21 at the storied, stunning and top-ranked Stanford course and a wellness event at Filoli Estate.
The pandemic forced the cancellation of last year’s Inside Anne’s Closet, the annual fashion show and luncheon fundraiser for the Alliance featuring celebrity and student-athlete models. Founded in 2015, the event honors founding chair John Paye and steering committee chair Amy Paye Venuto’s mother Anne, who had a passion for both fashion and education. Anne died from colorectal cancer in 2013.
“Colorectal cancer didn’t stop because of the pandemic, and our mother would want us to find a way to continue our mission to help end this disease,” Venuto said. “But there are real and important challenges in hosting an event today. A golf tournament at Stanford University is the perfect answer for people who have been cooped up and are ready to get out and give back.”
The five-hour tournament will include just 80 golfers. Each will receive an Inside Anne’s Closet-branded golf shirt. A virtual silent auction is also planned. The tournament will follow recommended social distancing guidelines from the CDC and will adhere to the protocols required by Santa Clara County and the Stanford Golf Course.
The wellness event, hosted by Canyon Ranch Woodside’s wellness team and featuring yoga and a guided walking meditation, will occur at the same time as the golf tournament at the sprawling Filoli Estate. Tickets are still available.
Funds raised at the Inside Anne’s Closet golf tournament will support the Colorectal Cancer Alliance’s treatment and financial assistance programs in the Bay Area by issuing stipends to lessen the burden or provide reduced or free screenings to those most in need. Since its founding, Inside Anne’s Closet has contributed more than $1.2 million to the Alliance’s mission.
Colorectal cancer is the second deadliest cancer in the U.S. among men and women combined. An estimated 149,500 Americans will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer and nearly 53,000 will die from the disease in 2021.
